I recently bought a HP Envy 4 with OSX 10.10 from a vendor. I was told I'd get El Cap, and now the vendor has gone to ground, won't respond to emails.
So I want to upgrade to Sierra so i can use latest xcode.
Found this guide https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/direct-update-to-macos-sierra-using-clover.201465/
First issue is this instruction: Copy FakeSMC.kext
I can't find that file, the folder is empty.
I followed the more detailed instructions here and found the folders shown, still files to copy.

Clover is v2.3k rev 3974
So, can I do a direct upgrade from within OSX?
