$26 Mac Classic M1420 from eBay

I want to be able to perform the following activities:

- play a BluRay or DVD disk rented from RedBox or other
- Rip one of my hundreds of DVDs (Collection of foreign movies) as a .ISO
- play movies from the .ISOs
- Transform the ISO into an MP4 for iTunes or iPad

Computer will be sitting in the living room close to the HD TV & Yamaha Receiver (HDMI cable).

Needs some storage with some security.
Thinking of some kind of RAID 5.
aka: four or five large disks.
RAID 0 = stripping = no redundancy
RAID 1 = mirroring = 50% capacity loss
RAID 5 = parity = 25% capacity loss with 4 drives, 20% loss with 5 drives.

Looked at hard drives, as of May 2015.
Cheapest large capacity 2.5" drive was ~$120 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178627 for 2TB.
A 2TB in 3.5" is ~$50 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA5AD2Z01709.
OK, 3.5" drives, it will be...
3 TB starts at ~$70 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178444
4 TB is at ~$135 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822149569
OK, let's use 3-TB 3.5" drives for the RAID array then...

I'll need a cage for inside the Mac Classic. Thinking of using this one $50 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817198059.

Anybody has any experience with it, or a better recommendation?

I'll need to search how to do RAID 5 in Yosemite...

Measurements Post.

width = 9.7" = 246 mm = 525 pixels
ratio = 0.46857
max screen width = 431 pixels = 202mm
typ. screen width = 398 pixels = 186mm
max screen height = 344 pixels = 161mm
Typ. screen height = 294 pixels = 138mm

ipad screen: visible width = 197mm visible height = 146mm

From your measurements it looks like the 9.7" ipad screen fits, or am I reading your data wrongly? Would you say it is a good fit? Looking to do something similar, but I have been unsure of which screen to go for.
