I am using iMac17,1. That worked for 10.11.6. Which SMBIOS should I use then?

I also do not get 4k display after the CoreDisplay fix which enabled graphic acceleration.

For external HDMI/DP, anything but iMac17,1. Try iMac14,2, for example.

nice. imac14,2 gave me HDMI out!

one more question: how do I get 4k resolution? without graphic acceleration (0x12345678 setting), it actually gives me 4k resolution but of course lots of screen glitches. with the graphic acceleration on, I don't 4k resolution. See my display preference.

You are getting 4k.

I don't think I am getting 3840x2160 resolution...

Of course you are. Make a screen shot image, and analyze the details of the resulting file and you'll see...

I don't think so. When I boot with ig-platform-id=0x12345678, I get 3840x2160 resolution wo/ graphic acceleration. 1920x1080 with ig-platform-id=0x191b0000...

No. Your monitor can only display 3840x2160. The macOS drivers use HiDPI scaling because 3840x2160 would result in ridiculously small text. And the retina SysPrefs->Displays you have is a clear sign that everything is working. If you were using a real retina MacBookPro, you'd be having the same mis-interpretation that you're having about your own hack.

If you search through the system carefully and completely, you can probably find something which shows the true resolution.
