Mornin all,

I've finally decided its time to replace my xfx gt240. It works very well, but dual display is only through d-sub and hdmi.

There's actually a small difference in colour, and well, it's not right is it, so I know and it's driving me nuts!

I'd like an xfx hd5770 or 6870. I like the brand, and they seem to be pretty compatible.

My question is, are there any revisions or product numbers I should avoid like the plague, it's essential that dual dvi works OOB..

Cheers guys :)

I'm not sure you'll get dual DVI working on any of the cards but if that is the case you can always use an adapter for hdmi to dvi or mini-dp to dvi.

XFX 6870 is more compatible. Dual DVI is funky on all of them. Just use one on DVI and one on HDMI via an adapter that costs like $2.

im glad you guys told me that, it's weird. This GT240 has HDMI/DVI/DSUB but it will only work dual on DSUB + HDMI, no other option at all.

I suppose it's the price you pay, for not paying the price of an Apple!

Thanks for the advice guys, I just ordered my xfx 6870 from ebuyer.
My friend at apple informs me my mini display adapters will work in it too!

Bonus :headbang:

Of course this is the world of hackintosh. ........ We shall see

Ok an update

I just took out my old GT240

stuck in the XFX HD6870, (HD-687A-ZHFC) booted up, and it worked.

4 outputs all work together, on the same rail. So I mean DVI + HDMI - 2 x MDP
amazing.

the fan is very noisy though

im running SL 10.6.8
