+1 It won't likely be Cougar or Puma though as:

The cougar (Puma concolor), also known as the puma, mountain lion, panther, or catamount, is a large cat of the family Felidae native to the Americas. Wikipedia

I believe there was already an OS X version called Puma way back to 10.1 Don't think we'll get another of the many names for the cougar after 10.8 Mountain Lion

That's why my guess is Bobcat. But as usual no one seems to ever correctly guess what Apple will do next.

Was this by submitting an iOS app to them? I got a circular from Apple about the scholarship and really wanted to go!

Well il be a live stream?

According to Mac Rumors, there might be one through Apple TV or the WWDC app, maybe even the apple website.
The guys at onemorething.nl however, will stream live video even if Apple doesn't. Their stream will either be a copy of Apple's, or their own if Apple doesn't do a live stream. (Don't use an adblocker, because most block the video.)

Their quote in Dutch:

Alles wijst er momenteel op dat Apple geen livestream vanuit de zaal beschikbaar zal stellen. Daarom hebben we ons eigen beeld vanuit de zaal geregeld. Als Apple wel een livestream beschikbaar stelt kan je nog steeds naar onze voor- en nabeschouwing kijken. We zullen de Apple-stream doorzetten in onze eigen uitzending zodra de Keynote begint.
