After I found out most of my current HW isn't compatible and also not very up 2 date anymore,

Asus P6T Deluxe, X58
i7-920
Corsair 1333MHz DDR3, 6GB,
Sapphire Radeon HD 4830 512MB GDDR3

I'm thinking of totally upgrading my system.
The system will mostly be used to run my graphic appz like Photoshop/illustrator.
However I want to make it a dual boot system running win7 and play games online in the evening.

Games in mind are CoD, Max Payne 3 and the likes.

Therefor I'm thinking of going for this configuration.

*Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H
*Intel Core i7 3770K 3.5GHz 8MB LGA1155
*Corsair Vengeance - 16GB 1600MHz
*Sapphire Radeon HD6870,1GB or Sapphire Radeon HD6850,2GB << not sure yet.
*OCZ Agility 3 - 120GB

Any tips/advise are much appreciated :)

PS. With future proof, I mean to say "will it serve me well for the next coming 3-4 years"?

Good point there theandy94.

Thanks for your reply.

BTW.

Is it possible to install OSX and Win7 on the same SSD?
Because than I can benefit from it on both platforms.
Or perhaps better buy 2 smaller SSD's?

For SSD I would go for the Samsung 830 series.

As for the OS X and Win7, better to have a SSD for each, but, if you must install on same SSD, see viewtopic.php?f=81&t=20872 and scroll down toward the bottom.

Hi Going Bald,

Thanks for your reply.

Now that's thorough guide to Multibooting :)

I think i'll go for 2 smaller SSD's in that case.
Don't want to complicate things more than needed on my first hackintosh build.

When installing Win7 on a UEFI BIOS board I ran into a slight problem. My install DVD has both the standard and EFI installers. If you do not preformat the Win7-to-be drive and allow Win7 install DVD to boot by itself, it will install itself with 3 partitions as a UEFI on MBR and Chimera can't see the drive. So, I would recommend preformatting the drive either with OS X disk utility as MSDOS ExFat with either option MBR or GUID, or use a third party disk utility like gparted or one of the Paragon disk utilities and format it NTFS.
Then, when you boot with the DVD in the drive, hit F12 or whatever function key you use to get to the select boot device screen.
If your board has UEFI BIOS you will notice your DVD drive is listed twice - once as normal and once as an EFI device. Select the normal DVD drive to boot with.

Thanks 4 the headsup!

Haven't got any experience with the UEFI Bios so far.

ATI Radeon 5770 it seems to be lol

Still not sure which one to go for:

Sapphire Radeon HD6870,1GB or Sapphire Radeon HD6850,2GB.
With gaming in mind, which of these two will perform better?
Will the 2GB onboard benefit the fps?

Since I can't wait, I'm thinking of buying the grfx card first so I can play around with my current system until I got the ping ping to buy my new components.

The v ram is just for saving the world of the game you are playing, with 2GB you can have better settings in the game like all settings on high.
I personally have the 6850 with 1GB.
For installation I had no trouble because my card worked OOB.
I don't know if the 6870 works also OOB but I would recommend this one because its the newer and I think better card.
