Would El Capitan work on older hardware?

Board: MSI P35 Neo2
Chipset: Intel P35
CPU: Intel quad core, socket 775
Graphics: Nvidia 8800 GTX

The board does not have a UEFI BIOS. Should I be able to install El Cap with Clover in legacy mode? I've searched but I can't find anybody who has installed El Cap on this hardware.

It's worth a try. I have an old hardware as well and I just successfully installed El Capitan on it with one try. My hardwares are : Gigabyte GA-G41MT-S2PT (775) , C2 Quad 8400+ , 4GB RAM, nVidia GTS 240. The only thing I had to address post-installation was the sound and ethernet kext which was easily resolved. I even set my computer to dual-boot El Capitan and Windows 7 (I don't like 10) on a single hard drive (2TB spinner).
Mine doesn't have UEFI either. I just chose legacy

Works great with my hardware. And I'm running 6 year old legacy setup.
