Edit: Question revised

Hi guys,

Im about to build my third hack and am looking for some advice.
I'm trying to decide between X99 i7 6800k and Z270 i7 7700k

I'll be using the machine to edit 4k footage, light animation work in After Effects, and also gaming.
Basically I'm curious to hear if anyone has had experience with the 6800k and/or 7700k.
I've been following some of the testing on the Kaby Lake thread.

I do have some experience as I've built 2 hacks in the past (one of them was X99).

Any info/opinions would be much appreciated :)

I need the same advise as you do. I have heard the performance is similar so I have been really considering the Z170 + i7 6700K, but then I have heard that the skylake processors were a bit buggy and that intel rushed the 7700K. Lets hear what others have to say. I already bought a EVGA GTX 980Ti to take advantage of the cudas in Premiere Pro.
I am holding on the motherboard + CPU until I hear confirmation that Skylake is not buggy or that Kaby Lake works fine with either a Z170 or Z270.

Since a Z270 offers few advantages for the practical, real-world work you need to do and since cutting-edge innovation doesn't seem to be a priorty, I think the 18th century poet Alexander Pope has already given valuable guidance:

"Be not the first by whom the new are tried,
Nor yet the last to lay the old aside."
