Posting as after scouring through many complex methods and trying them to no avail,
I found this little documented option in Hackintool (pic below).
If like me you are still using Clover and have broken wifi (greyed out) after updating to Catalina try this 1st.
Save yourself the hassle.
*Please note*
At 1st this didn't work as I had left behind all the other kexts I'd tried.
Most guides suggest placing AirPortAtheros40.kext, IO80211Family.kext or HS80211Family.kext in Library/Extensions, System/Library/Extensions or the CLOVER/kexts/Other folders.
Apart from the fresh IO80211Family.kext from Hackintool, I deleted the rest and rebooted to find Wi-Fi finally working.
