Hello,

I finally got my G5 case and i took everything apart, and i will be taking pictures and updating the thread as i go.

I am attaching a picture of a part i took off the logic board not sure what it is.

Feel free to suggest anything that might be good for the mod and ask any questions that you might have.

My plan is to keep the rear I/O and not to cut it.

Looking forward to following this. :)

I think that's the temperature monitor board? No idea if you can reuse it.

Well if you dont want to cut it and if your soldering skills are awesome and the Logic board is bad you can cut the rear of the IO section of the Logicboard off and solder connection to it to hook it up to your mobo.

zammykoo did a great job like that and was even making custom rear IOs for a time.

today i installed the switch button to the dvd drive,

I also wired the USB on the back of the logic board, i am waiting for parts and tools to continue my project.

So far it is not easy going to school, working and have a baby running around the house that wants to touch everything lol.

Are you going to be wiring all of your I/O ports on the original Apple logic board?

Most likely judging by the pic.

What you do if your good is you find the correct leads and solder on new lines from the underside and then have that connected to your mobo.

CAUTION!!!!
You need to know exactly what your doing when it comes to soldering new wiring onto the existing solder points and not mixing anything up! Damage to the Motherboard will result if there are any mistakes!

Im working on the audio but it is giving me static, if it keeps giving problem, i will get the ones from frontx.com and replace them.

today i managed to get the audio working and i want to thank ayilm1 and gouedi for helping me with the wiring.

For future reference on the audio port

On the back of the logic board there are - - - that is the first row so you connect the first wire to the first pin

and on the second row there is 2 pins - - you will connect the 2nd wire to the second pin
