Won't boot after Premiere Pro crash

Stop messing around with that stuff. Just set up your Bios correctly and follow the guides.

roger. im guessing that on that first restart, when i got the bios error and chose to load optimised defaults, it changed the XHCI Handoff to disabled. Changing that setting back to "enabled" has made it possible to boot back up again.

Don't use the optimized defaults. It's not optimized for hackintosh.
