I am running Catalina with a Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Ultra Gaming motherboard. The specs list that it has “Lightning-Fast Intel® Thunderbolt™ 3 AIC Support“: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z270X-Ultra-Gaming-rev-10#kf

I am looking to buy a 27” Apple Thunderbolt Display. I don’t currently have a dedicated graphics card. Will the display work with/without a graphics card?

Your motherboard does not have Thunderbolt 3 hardware onboard so by itself it won't work with the Apple Thunderbolt Display.

Thunderbolt 3 support requires a separate Thunderbolt 3 add-in card like the GC Alpine Ridge or GC Titan Ridge, which can be connected via the Thunderbolt 3 add-in card connector on the motherboard. But even with that I have no idea if it will work with a Thunderbolt display.

@scottkendall Would a Thunderbolt Display work with my setup. I'm OP, thread was hijacked.

I might have quoted them but I clicked the link from your post, so my comments were directed at you rather then them. I do not have personal experience with this only know what I have read.
