I don't have ethernet on one of my computers, a Dell Optiplex 330. I have heard that you can buy a USB sound card to get audio on a hackintosh. Can't you buy a usb ethernet adapter like the ones for the Retina MacBook to get ETHERNET? Do you think it will work out of the box?

Here is the adapter:

Its listed as working from 10.4.8 and later so if should work fine. You may well get a similar item on Amazon or another online site for less. If the ability for it to work lies in the operating system then the vast majority of these items will work.

You can use a similar USB to audio adaptor to get audio working on the Dell machines. The VoodooHDA audio is really very poor and noisy/scratchy sounding.

So the adapter should work? I realized that you use a Pentium processor for your build. I have a Dell Inspiron 15 3521 with a Pentium. How do you get it work?

People have reported that they have used them before so I suppose that they must. Apple also list them. The important thing is to get the adaptor seen as en0. You may need to switch off the onboard card from the BIOS before plugging the adaptor in.

One build uses a G2020 with AMD graphics and Ivy Bridge motherboard - I also have two Dell Optiplex 760 (socket 755) and an i5 Haswell build amongst other stuff.
Cheap and cheerful builds can be a lot of fun:

The Dell 15 3521 is a laptop that utilises Intel HD graphics - so not supported. You will find more laptop compatibility information in the stickies in the laptop section:

Getting it to attach to 'en0' does not matter. You can use it no matter what BSD name it attaches to. The 'en0' requirement is only true for built-in Ethernet as required for access to the Mac App Store. AFAIK, there is no way to make a USB look built-in.

Without built-in "working" Ethernet you can use NullEthernet for Mac App Store access, and USB Ethernet for actual data transfer.

First gen Intel HD is supported with significant hacking. Not so much for later generations...

Thanks for adding clarity to the ethernet question in particular and providing the informative link.
