What keeps you guys to still getting Nvidia for a Hackintosh?

That's my only question that my brain cannot process, literally I'm all ears and attention to receive any answer with common sense.
Most of us only either only have NVIDIA hardware, can't afford to buy a second card, or some people are so dedicated to NVIDIA that they would die if they touched an AMD card (a.k.a. fanboys/fangirls).

In my case I simply cannot afford another card. I hackintoshed my Alienware R4 17 laptop back in 2017, which has a GTX 1070 as well as Intel HD 630 Integrated Graphics (laptop display is connected to my 1070, so Mojave and up isn't an option). Here's my argument: Apple locks software updates to their applications after a certain amount of time. For example, version 10.4.7 of Logic Pro X is compatible with High Sierra 10.13.6, but not 10.13.2, and who knows how long it will be until I stop receiving those updates. Along with that, something like Apple's Sidecar is only available in Mojave, Dark Mode is in Mojave, etc...

All that to say, the hackintosh NVIDIA community wants the features that everyone else is getting while not having to burn more holes through their wallet.

If nVidia community wants nVidia to produce drivers for Mojave and up then they need to file a complaint with nVidia. It's not really Apple's responsibility to produce drivers for unsupported hardware that doesn't exist in any of Mac's computers. Microsoft has the same policy and it is vendor's responsibility to provide latest hardware drivers to Microsoft or vendor's website.

Of course, nVidia will say it's Apple's responsibly so they're at stalemate but it's pretty obvious that nVidia doesn't want to invest their time and resources into developing good quality mac drivers for their video cards because there's very small market for hackintosh. To be honest, nVidia's web drivers are mediocre and poor performance which clearly shows their lack of interests.

I'd like to keep this on the topic of what Nvidia cards still have support in Mojave and Catalina and not go off topic into reasons why there are no Nvidia web drivers for cards not natively supported. Thanks.

I like that one , its also better to us to have more AMD cards in the market to choose.
I also think that's the case, Apple locks down their stuff and me as a user have to choose if I want to follow that path or the other, but if followed the second I have no more to ask for, and shouldn't.

Nvidia never did webdriver for hackintoshers, all that support was for old modular Mac Pros to be able to have a Nvidia GPU inside, in addition to that they could continue doing webdriver for any recent Mac user using external GPU. Hackintoshers just take that as an advantage and installed it on their PCs.

Lowest Cost New Nvidia Card for Mojave or Catalina
For those with an older Sandy Bridge based system that uses HD3000 graphics. Your Intel graphics will not work well with the newest editions of macOS. What to do ? You can buy a Quadro 410 on Ebay for just under $17. It will give you 2560 x 1600 resolution via DP if you have a DP monitor that is capable of that. Really incredible deal as these usually cost 65 to 70 USD when new. If you need a LP card you'll have to find a different one that is refurbished.

Nvidia Quadro 410 and Quadro NVS 510

If you want a better card that is 4K capable (up to 4 monitors) The NVS 510 is a great low cost choice. It sells for just $45 used/refurb on Ebay. Has 2GB of Vram while the 410 has only 512 MB. The card linked comes with a LP bracket. The seller also offers them with a full height bracket as well.

Prices for a new NVS 510 on
Amazon range from about 150 to 250 USD. Very nice workstation class cards with mini-DP.

I did something similar but with a couple of second-hand Quadro K600's, which cost me £10 each on ebay. I think these cost around £101 new, if you can find a supplier.

The K600 only has 1GB VRAM but they are good enough for some light CAD and Graphics work.

The K600 cards have a DVI and a DisplayPort, and can run two monitors at the same time. The maximum resolution from each port is as follows:
  • DisplayPort - 3840 × 2160 @ 60 Hz with DP 1.2.
  • DVI-I-DL - 2560 ×1600 @ 60 Hz
  • DVI-I-SL - 1920 × 1200 @ 60 Hz (using a DP to DVI(SL) adapter)
The cards are Kepler based, so they work with the Apple Nvidia drivers in Mojave and Catalina.

That's a great deal you got. One of the better ways to get Mojave/Catalina capable graphics without having to spend 100+ on a new AMD Polaris card. I use a K600 in a SFF Dell desktop. Let's hope the support continues after the next macOS comes out in 2020.
