Hello everyone,

Is anyone using successfully a wifi ac adapter on a ac wifi network ? ( and without any installation hassle)
And which wifi ac router do you use in such a case ?

I use the tonymac recommended tp-link wifi-n adapter which installed and works fine but would like a wifi performance boost using wifi-ac network.

Tonymac's newest August recommended hardware list still has the tplink + another brand, but both are still wifi-n.

You can go with the USB 3.0 802.11ac adapter another poster recommended, but personally I would go with a PCIe solution. There are a few different working 802.11ac cards. I'm using an AzureWave AW-CE123H/BCM4352 (http://smile.amazon.com/Azurewave-AW-CE123H-802-11ac-Broadcom-Bluetooth/dp/B00HRFS1GQ), which is a combo of 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 on a half mini-PCIe card. I have this installed in my desktop system in this mini-PCIe/PCIe+USB adapter card: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DV582R4. Currently the Bluetooth on my AzureWave isn't working, but it all worked at one time; not sure what the problem there is. I must say that installing this card wasn't quite a plug-and-play operation; I had to track down both Airport and Bluetooth enabler kexts, as well as a patch to make the 5GHz radio work. All this information and much more (including some other alternatives) are discussed in this thread: http://www.tonymacx86.com/network/104850-guide-airport-pcie-half-mini-v2.html.

At any rate my 802.11ac adapter is working quite well, with a very noticeable speed improvement in copying large files over the network. I'm currently getting transmit rates of around 500Mbit/sec. My router is a Netgear R6250 running the latest version of DD-WRT.

Are you using that BTFirmwareupdate kext? I had to add my vendor and product keys to it and got mine working.

Yes I am. And it used to work. However, now the BT isn't even visible on the USB bus. So I can't even get the vendor and product keys.

If you have any suggestions, I welcome them.
