Why only GTX 750 and GTX 960? What about cards in between (according to latest Buyer's guide)

Hi Guys

I've upgraded my build to El Capitan but I've learnt that my ATI card won't allow sleep to work, therefore i'm looking into the Nvidia GTX range.

I was looking at the GTX 750 as a replacement for my ATI card, however, I was wondering, why can't I go for the higher mid range cards like the GTX 770? Why do I have to jump to the GTX 960?

If anyone can recommend a card that works natively for El Capitan I'd greatly appreciate it, as I need sleep working again.

The buyers guide only contains products that you can currently buy new, it doesn't list all compatible parts (that list would be huge!).
A GTX 770 will work perfectly fine, you should find it in old Buyers Guides (>1 year ago, I guess).

Thanks for your reply. So a GTX 760 will also suffice? And do the Nvidia cards have to be made by a particular brand (EVGA, Asus, Gigabyte etc), or will any GTX 750, 760, 770 etc be ok?
