Hi everyone,

I have the following config:

I5 2500k
P67A-GD65 (B3)
G.SKILL PC3-14900 1866MHZ 8GB SNIPER CL9 (2X4GB) DDR3
Antec 300
Corsair HX650
ATI Radeon HD 6790 1GB (ASUS I think)
Samsung F3 500GB

So, I want to run mavericks without any problem. I know the graphic card and the motherboard are not compatible. If I buy one compatible motherboard and run OSX with the integrated graphic of the cpu should be ok?

Can you guys advise me on what motherboard should I buy to install mavericks easily? I don't need an overkill motherboard, just a good one with good relation price/quality.

Thank you all!

the buyers guide is related to new hardware and that motherboards are not compatible with 2500k

Are you sure that you cannot use your motherboard? I have not read any of these threads, but some do seem to indicate success using Lion, they should be fine to therefor use with Mountain Lion or Mavericks.

I agree that your GPU will need to be changed in order to accommodate OS X Mavericks. If you don't have access to a Mac/Hack running 10.6.8 that will allow you access to download OS X from the App store then you will need a card that will also be compatible with Snow Leopard. An older Nvidia 8400 or similar should do, see the wiki guide for more:

I've already tried to install lion on my desktop but the ethernet is not compatible (and probably other components aren't either)... So that's why I want to sell this one and buy a compatible one...

I don't need a better graphic card so I prefer to use the integrated if it is compatible.. Is it?

I have access to a mac to create the usb..

I want to install mavericks with less problems as possible... So can you recommend me a full compatible motherboard?

Thanks for your reply :)

One option might be to add a compatible ethernet card to your existing build:

If you want to change your motherboard, then you will need to do some more research and compile a list of suitable known to work motherboards. You will then be able to see what options you can find that are either new or secondhand/reconditioned. These motherboards are discontinued. Your Intel i5-2500 has HD 3000 graphics - these are compatible.

You can use Ivy Bridge 1155 motherboards with your processor, so I suggest that you start with the August 2013 buyers guide for suitable motherboards. Please note that to get the HD3000 working in an Ivy/Sandy bridge configuration you will need to apply the Intel Graphics patch from MultiBeast & your screen resolution needs to be added - there is a 1920x1080x32 option in MultiBeast.

In order to find older compatible motherboards, I suggest looking to see what might be in the form of Socket 1155 from here:

Plenty of options ;)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128512R would be a good candidate

your 2500K has HD3000 gfx and is compatible

That motherboard is no longer for sale... What do you think about the Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H?

That Gigabyte board must have been used to make thousands of Hacks. When version 1.1 came out with a different ethernet chip, it threw things into disarray. A member of the forum found a fix elsewhere and MultiBeast was updated.

A great value board with a good blend of features for the price. Its compact size makes it popular for the smaller mATX case size. I think you would be quite happy with this as an option.

I think I'll sell my current motherboard and buy this one. By the way, this motherboard is ATX and not mATX!

Other thing, if I have the ATI graphic card connected to the motherboard, but the monitor connected to the integrated graphic that's ok?

Thanks for your support Adrian B :)
