I just picked up an 8th generation Intel i7-8700K processor that's LGA1151. I was hoping to swap out the processor on my current Hackintosh but that only supports 7th generation. So I guess I'm stuck building a new Hackintosh.

The only motherboard I can find after too many hours of research is this one and sadly it only has a single Thunderbolt 3 port.

Does anyone know of one that has as least two Thunderbolt 3 ports. A bigger board/case is fine.

I would like to know this as well!

Still trying to decide whether to get a top of the line iMac or build a Hackintosh... the idea of being able to run a 6-core Coffee Lake processor tips things a bit in the favour of the Hackintosh...

Try searching for an Asus Z370 motherboard that can utilize a TH.Bolt 3 add in card. That's another approach that may work. Not seen many User builds with Z370 and these cards yet so you'll be the pioneers so to speak. Most info you need should be on the Asus website.

I have that motherboard. That’s why I started this thread. That board doesn’t support 8th gen which is what this processor is. I was hoping just to do a simple upgrade to my existing Hackintosh and now I’ve changed that project to a whole brand new Hackintosh but it’s looking rather hard to accomplish right now since I require Thunderbolt 3

I also contacted ASUS tech support. Only the motherboards listed on their website for the ThuderboltEX 3 add in card are supported - those are all old motherboards and none are 8th gen.

This was the official reply from ASUS:

The TUF Z370-PRO GAMING is not compatible with the Thunderbolt EX3 as there is no Thunderbolt header from the TUF motherboard. As for the list of compatible motherboards for the Thunderbolt EX 3, you can check the link below for more information:

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboard-Accessory/ThunderboltEX-3/specifications/
That link is outdated as it has not been updated for the Z270 / X299 / Z370 motherboards.

Thunderbolt 3 support on motherboards require extra hardware, and this raises the cost of the motherboard significantly. Apparently because of this there are very few motherboards available with Thunderbolt 3 support built in (and those who have, like my Gigabyte GA-Z270X-UD5, has only one port, except your GA-Z170-UD5 TH, which has two.), and as you already found out, for Z370 there is only one motherboard with Thunderbolt 3 built in at present.

Using that Asus Thunderbolt 3 card MAY be a solution, but it requires an Asus motherboard with a Thunderbolt header (may not work with other motherboard brands), and Asus will probably only provide support for the card in Windows 10. We don't know that Thunderbolt 3 on the motherboard / card combination will work in MacOS or not. You are going into the unknown if you choose to try this. You may find yourself spending a lot of money and then find out Thunderbolt 3 doesn't work.

I don't have any idea about that. I built my Hackintosh in the summer of 2016 with the sole purpose of using Thunderbolt 3. The Mac Pro ports have not been updated since 2013 and still does not have Thunderbolt 3.

....I just don't understand how after the Touch Bar MacBook Pro came out with only 4 x Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C ports that the entire product line wasn't updated within say 3 months to the same thing.
