Those two motherboards are very different, so they are difficult to compare. Here are the main differences:

• The H81M-HD3 is MicroATX form factor, so it will fit in a much smaller case than the Z97P-D3, which is full ATX.
• The Z97P-D3, being full-size ATX, has more expansion slots, if that's a factor for you.
• The Z97P-D3 also has 4 RAM slots vs. the H81M-HD3, which has only 2.
• On the other hand, the H81M-HD3 has DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort for graphics output, while the Z97P-D3 is limited to only HDMI.

It just depends on what your needs are and what you consider important. Both should work equally well with OS X.
