Sorry for the stupid question, but:

I'm trying to make a build and I'm very interested in feeding the audio to the monitor (with integrated speakers: ASUS MX27UQ) via displayPort. I read that DP and HDMI rely on the same techinque. I would like to know if it depends on the Graphic Card, or on the MotherBoard (I'm thinking on a Gigabyte GA-Z170M-D3H which mounts ALC892).

Thank you.

ike to know if it depends on the Graphic Card, or on the MotherBoard
Depends on the graphics system: Intel and/or AMD or Nvidia.
Intel HDMI audio method (relevant)
  • ACPI: add HDMI audio injection and set framebuffer (all)
  • Kext: edit framebuffer to match physical connectors (HDMI/DVI only)
Script for above: HDMI Audio AppleHDA/cloverHDMI

Thank you for the reply. So I understand that it depends on the graphic card. I am planning to buy one. Is it there any list of 1050 compatible graphic cards with DisplayPort? The list on your script seems to lack those.

Thank you

The Buyers Guide lists the 10 series graphics cards that are recommended. We had an issue with the Gigabyte 1050 Ti 4Gb Gaming card in the last few days (First one at the top of the list) and this is being looked at. Aside from that you should be good to go with any of the others.
