I successfully upgraded to Yosemite and all seems to be working well except I get there following recurrent messages (every ten seconds) as something is trying to launch the watchdog service:

10/23/14 11:45:22.673 AM watchdogd[708]: [watchdog_daemon] @( wd_watchdog_open) - IOIteratorNext failed (kr=0)
10/23/14 11:45:22.673 AM watchdogd[708]: [watchdog_daemon] @( wd_daemon_init) - could not initialize the hardware watchdog
10/23/14 11:45:22.673 AM watchdogd[708]: [watchdog_daemon] @( main) - cannot initialize the watchdog service
10/23/14 11:45:22.674 AM com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.watchdogd) Service only ran for 0 seconds. Pushing respawn out by 10 seconds.

Searches here and on the web, reveal no information on the possible cause/source of these messages.

On apple.support.com (http://support.apple.com/kb/TA20622?viewlocale=en_US) I found the following:
Mac OS X Server: About the Watchdog Process -- Watchdog is a process designed to start, monitor, and restart other processes and services as necessary to keep them running in versions 10.0.x through 10.3.x of Mac OS X Server. In versions 10.4 and later, its process monitoring role is replaced by launchd, and its restart function is replaced by watchdogtimerd.

It seems watchdog is related to OS X server (which I am not running). A screenshot of the manpage is attached.

Any thoughts on what to look for would be appreciated.

Also get this error all the time:

Oct 26, 2014, 10:14:55 system_profiler[504]: platformPluginDictionary: Can't get X86PlatformPlugin, return value 0

Just did a fresh upgrade over the existing Yosemite install and the problem still persists.

Same here. Any solution?

EDIT:
I solved by upgrading FAKESMC.kext to latest version.

Where did you get the most recent version? (From Multibeast)

I can confirm that using the latest FakeSMC.kext works and fixed the watchdog problem for me. My original FakeSMC.kext was a year old!
One can download it from "Downloads" on tonymacx86 ...

Thanks - I will give it a try.

Updating FakeSMC.kext eliminated all the watchdogd messages! I used Multibeast for Yosemite to install the latest FakeSMC.kext. I also removed the one I had in /E/E.
