Hey guys.
I've been spending countless hours (not a bad thing, quite interesting) in forums reading on what I'm gonna buy without being able to come to a conclusion (bad thing). Here's my situation:
Currently have a Dell U2713HM 2560x1440 monitor and I'm planning on buying 2 more when I move out of my current apartment and get a bigger desk.
I wanna game and manage to keep this build for gaming for the next 3 years
Video editing wise, I hope that when needed I can add 2x8GB to the existing 2x8GB modules and go to 32GB and for near half hour rendering which, should be fine!
The main question comes to GPU:
I've been leaning towards the R9 280X Sapphire Toxic version for quite some time
but now I'm more fond of the EVGA GTX 770 4GB (04G-P4-3776-KR)
Issue of most importance: Compatibility with Hackintosh.
Stability with three monitors? I've read that drivers need to be updated to get multi monitor support. The 2GB version is recommended but I think if I'm running resolutions of 7680x1440 I'm gonna need the 4GB SLI in the future although VRAM doesn't stack.
Do any of you have multi monitor support in OSX with (CUDA) acceleration with the GTX or use the r9 280X in CF?
Here's the rest of the components:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($319.99 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 54.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($62.25 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($209.99 @ Microcenter)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($144.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($211.99 @ B&H)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 770 4GB Video Card ($429.99 @ Amazon)
OR AMD R9 280X Sapphire Toxic 3GB ($399.99 @ Amazon)
Case: Corsair 750D ATX Full Tower Case ($129.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair Professional 850W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($129.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $1639.18
Thank you!
