i had it working
Are you using a passive or active adapter?
Apple have sold active mini displayport to VGA adapters to use with projectors. You can probably find a third party option available elsewhere that uses standard displayport. An active HDMI to VGA may work, but displayport would be my first choice as it has the best chance of working.

I think that you may have been exceptionally lucky if you had VGA working with only a passive adapter in the part - one in a million long shot.
i had it working dual monitor (with diff resolutions) vga and dvi in el capitan with gt610
but then i clean installed sierra
n then it was brought to my knowledge that i have to switch from gt 610 to gt 710 for sierra

so i there any chance i could get the second display (vga) working in HDMI > VGA adaptors

or anyone tried it yet

coz i dont wanna give up vga monitor....
