Hello,

I am unable to get my Vega 56 to be utilized by MacOS for hardware of encoding of video (I've tried FCP, ScreenFlow, & MacX).

MacX indicates that Hardware Encoding is supported, but it is using the iGPU instead of the Vega.

Does anyone have an idea of what I can do to enable Vega support?

Here are my specs:
i7 8700K
Asus Z370 Prime A
32GB RAM
Vega 56 (Sapphire Reference model)

I've attached my EFI folder.

This was written for use with an actual Mac Pro so Hackintosh may be different?

Apparently from my research, it's normal for the iGPU to do the work for H.264 encoding. The GPU remains idle. Can anyone confirm this is the expected behavior?

Unless you disable the iGPU, and change the SMBIOS to iMac Pro. MacOS will default to use QuickSync, and won't utilise the Vega's hardware acceleration.

Thanks, that's what I ended up doing. Working well now.
