Hi friends,
I've swapped to Vega 56 due to the problems with the RX580 and Premiere https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...t-support-hevc-hw.240353/page-63#post-1890976

My benchmarks are reasonably close to those achieved in Windows. However, Premiere is markedly faster (at least 30%) on Windows. Renders that take 3 minutes on Windows are taking 5 minutes+ on OSX Mojave 10.14.2. As another example, geekbench compute is over 200k in Windows but 188k in OSX. Heaven benchmark over 2400 in Windows but 1888 on OSX. Same computer, dual boot (each OS running on dedicated NVME).

So I'd love some input on why the discrepancy, especially on Premiere.

More pressing, I'm getting a glitchy display on my displayport (4K LG 27") -- mostly it is a quick fade to black and back after half a second, but sometimes its artifacts like a noisy signal flash. No obvious pattern in terms of frequency. And the GPU tach on the Vega (MSI air boost) are constantly flickering all on in spite of 0% GPU usage reported by XRG. Meanwhile, HDMI monitor is fine.

I'm running headless IGPU (Intel 630). Using WEG and followed https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-intel-framebuffer-patching-using-whatevergreen.256490/ and IDiot's guide to lilu.

Any leads on this issue?

Much obliged!

Ok.... I am gonna try and explain this as simple as possible. Comparing results on the same "PC Components" from Windows to MacOS is 100% not going to be in the same ballpark. When you are using an OS that "technically" is not designed to work on said components. The reason that your results are much lower in MacOS is because the apps are developed based on Apple's ecosystem. Which means that ecosystem is compromised once you install it on a hack. There is obviously going to be little "glitches" and things are not going to work 100% as you thing they should, since you are comparing to a OS "Windows" that has 100% support of the components you currently are using.

Fair enough. I much prefer OSX -- and can use it for 90% of what i need. So dual boot to Windows for video production is manageable.

It seems that (mysteriously) plugging the monitor into the 2nd (of 3) DP has resolved the glitchy display. I'm still getting the weird Vega issues with all lights flashing on the GPU tach but i'll follow-up on the VGtab thread about this.

Thanks again for the good explantation, Pavo.
