Vantec PCIe x4 NVME adapter with HP EX920 M.2 NVME drive
I just installed this adapter to use with an HP EX920 M.2 512GB NVMe drive that I got for my Dell 7010 MT running Mojave. My existing installation was on a SATA 500 GB disk, so all I did was drop the NvmExpressDxe-64 driver in drivers64UEFI in my EFI clover folder, and installed the PCIe adapter and drive, and rebooted.
Then once I saw the NVMe drive show up in Mojave, I formatted the NVMe drive APFS GUID partition, and cloned the SATA drive to the NVMe drive. Finally, I changed the Startup Disk in System Preferences to the NVMe drive and rebooted and it just worked!
The Vantec PCIe adapter was $13 at my local Micro Center.
