USB-C Not working

I am trying to get my usb c port to detect my audio interface. Whenever I plug in the USB C cable I get an error message on the screen saying thunder bolt accessories are not supported on this Mac.

Any ideas?

under about this Mac>system report> USB> the usb 3.1 shows up and just says apple adapter that Im using to plug into usb c
 
What is the system Definition that you are using and version of macOS? Have you tried searching for other users using the same board to see what experience that they have had?

iMac 14,2 Sierra 12.3

I do not have any USB C hardware at this point in time. So unless someone comes along to give you a few pointers then all I am able to recommend is further reading at this point in time. Check the chipset used with the gigabyte webpages and specification of your board against some of the third party cards.
You may need to look at a DSDT and it may be with posting in Sierra desktop support:
