I seem to be having the same issue, getting some audio stutters every now and then (focusrite scarlett solo) but there is no serial port option on my bios (asus p8z68v). By disabling this option can you guys confirm that your front sound panel is not working? maybe if I remove the cable from the motherboard it will count as disabling the serial port via bios?

Check for new (probably beta) BIOS that might be available, older versions on my board didn't have the option either. Audio layout id would more likely effect front/back audio ports. Check AppleALC github and find your audio chipset to see available layout options for your board.

Seems like removing genericusb kext has solved the issue but will keep this in mind, thanks!

Actually I still get audio drop outs even with the kext removed. Any idea what to look out for next in order to fix it?
I do have the USBInject all installed - should I try removing that next ? (my usb3 doesn't work if I do so).

Also - here's the layout id's for my board: 0x100302, layout 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 28, 31, 90, 92, 97, 99

Can I just add one of them each time to the config.plist and see if it works?

I struggled with this issue with my Apogee Quartet. What ended up fixing my issue was disabling XHCI handoff in the BIOS. I know every guide tells you to enable it, but it doesn't seem to be needed anymore.

If you mean EHCI handoff I have it disabled, for XHCI the only option is for SATA on my bios.

I have had the same issues with my Scarlett Focusrite 2i2. So frustrating that your device just shuts down in the middle of a Discord meeting.

This may have fixed a lot but I cant seem to find the Disable Super IO setting in the BIOS? I recently updated the BIOS and in stead of the classic blue and white screen its the yellow blackish-screen. Am I overlooking something?

I have a Gigabyte Z390M Gaming MOBO.

Just wanted to say thanks for bringing XCHI handoff up. I am running Big Sur on Opencore 0.6.4 and my 2i4 Scarlett has been popping and cracking since upgrading from Clover on Catalina. I had to have XCHI turned off on my previous build Clover boot, but I switched it back on in Big Sur and low and behold my interface is now working perfectly.

All sorted now, the move to Opencore took a couple of days, but its been well worth it, my Hack is running faster and is much more stable since switching bootloader and updating macOS

so you are saying switching XCHI handoff ON solved your issue? how weird.

Since I first commented I went from a z390 to a z490 10th gen setup and I haven't had the issue at all.

I take it back. It worked for two days and is now crackling and stuttering again this morning. DOnt know what to do. Would a different USB interface work? Just upgraded my CPU so going next gen not possible at the moment.
