Hello!

I have recently updated my hackintosh to mavericks, and it went flawless. The only problem that I have come across is my USB headset audio becomes distorted after listening to something for more than 10 seconds. It starts off fine, but becomes increasingly static-y until it is an inaudible mess. The weird part is my headphone jack on the mobo works perfectly. I have an asus p8z77-v lk running 10.9 with the ALC892 drivers, and the sound seems to be the only problem. What would be causing this?

Any feedback would be appreciated

read this thread, its not very long. Looks like the solution is from the link above post #9 (I cut and paste below)

A Static noise problem is well known. It appeared in 10.8.4.
Just Disable in Chrome local Flash plugin and leave General Flash plugin enabled.
The problem is a local Chrome flash plugin.
Not the OSX and an audio driver.

1. Go chrome://plugins in Chrome.
2. Then click "Details" at the top right corner.
3. Disable the plugin that located at the local Chrome folder.
4. Close and restart app

The ALC audio and USB audio are independent of each other. This is a good thing

Others have noted similar issues, here is a link to a comment that I hope will provide you with a proper working solution:

EDIT - I see the person who made said comment was faster to reply

I cannot change the frequency of the headset, there is no option to under Audio MIDI Setup.

I do not see a General flash plugin under chrome://plugins, am I missing it?

hm, not sure

Im only aware of these two options:

Go into Audio MIDI Setup, and change your output sampling rate to 48kHz or 96kHz.
That should solve your problem. If one doesn't work, try the other.

There is only one option, no 98k. Also, what is the Chrome plugin I am supposed to disable? I am confused.

Im not familiar with your setup/rig/computer. I do know of sample rates and what they refer to. So I recognized gx when was said to change the sample rate to either 48kHz or 96kHz, there is no such thing as a 98kHz sample rate.

It looks like you are on "output" (of course that makes sense) but did you try configuring input as well? those two options might be under input where you should be able to set the sample rate also.

also Mangad said the problem wasnt the sample rate, it was chrome:
1. Go chrome://plugins in Chrome.
2. Then click "Details" at the top right corner.
3. Disable the plugin that located at the local Chrome folder.
4. Close and restart app

other than those two techniques/approaches Im unaware - was passing along information I read in hopes it would help

I hope this issue gets resolved for you soon. If I hear anything else Ill be the first to post it (unless Adrian B beats me to it this time!)

if midi options and chrome both dont solve your audio issue, Im not sure what else to suggest. Im a "noob" (hate that term btw lol) and just dont have the knowledge at this point to help any further with this issue. I will keep my ears and eyes open and if/when I do find out otherwise Ill let you know. In the meantime use search (upper right hand corner above your name)
