Maybe you should start over with a fresh install.

Followed your advice with a fresh install up to #19, and hit the exact same error as #19 (still booting to black with blank ig-platform-id).

What do you mean by "blank ig-platform-id"?

What do you mean by "blank ig-platform-id"?

I set config.plist/Graphics/ig-platform-id=[blank] as per this guide

If I set the ig-platform-id=0x12345678, it will boot, but is missing Graphics Acceleration, Audio, and Backlight.

I set config.plist/Graphics/ig-platform-id=[blank] as per this guide

It means you're getting a default ig-platform-id chosen by Clover or by the system.
Not recommended as you have no idea what you're actually getting.

Ok. I set config.plist/Graphics/ig-platform-id=0x591b0000 and config.plist/Devices/FakeID/IntelGFX=0x59168086, which are the defaults in your config, boots to black. Tried commenting out both values (as is default in your config), also boots to black. Again, I can guess that it boots to login (and keyboard backlight controls work) but there's still no UI rendered on the screen.

You should also try ig-platform-id 0x59160000.
And you should install Clover to your main system drive.

I have tried the following combinations:

- ig-platform-id: 0x5916000, FakeID: 0x59168086, AAPL,ig-platform-id: 00001b59, device-id: 1b590000

All boot to black with working backlight.

P.S. My Clover is installed on a Win SSD and has always run well in High Sierra. Will try a copy on my new macOS drive but I doubt it will make a difference.

MacBookPro14,3 is a poor choice. Use MacBookPro14,1 or MacBookPro11,1.

Thanks, but it didn't work (I was using 14,1 in previous configs).

I gave up and went back to High Sierra. WhateverGreen.kext works well in High Sierra with this config:
ig-platform-id: Blank, FakeID: Blank, AAPL,ig-platform-id: 00001b59, device-id: 1b590000

However, I could not get the DP out (2nd monitor) to work, so I got rid of WhateverGreen and went back to native. I think my hardware setup just does not play well with the current version of WhateverGreen.

Many thanks for the help, guess it was too early to upgrade to Mojave!

Patching with WhateverGreen requires proper configuration.
