Upgrading to ML from Lion: Apps Question

I was wondering whether it was possible to restore a time machine backup from my lion hackintosh to the new mountain lion install?

I want to preserve my applications that I have installed. If I can thats great how would I go about doing that? If not, are there any other methods in reaching this goal of mine?

If you are using Unibeast to upgrade an existing system to ML, your apps and user data will be preserved. The upgrade only touches system files.

If you already installed ML fresh, then I'm pretty sure that you can't restore from a Time Machine Backup of Lion, otherwise ML will be replaced with Lion.
