Upgrading Laptop screen to 1080p

Thanks for the information. Does the screen 1600x900 also be incompatible? Perhaps the best is to choose a better quality 1366x768 without the need to replace the cable. I miss the glossy color of my old macbook pro 13.3.

I see people having trouble with new probook... gonna update the first post. :?

Hi mates,
The 646274-001 cable and LP156WF1(TL)(F3) Screen are not compatible with the newer version of Probook 4530s i3 2330 500GB HD.
My probook is one of the latest probook mentioned above, Model LJ519UT#ABA, it is not working now at all(dead) after i tried to replace the display to 1080p mentioned above.
Dear Mates, BEWARE of what ur doing and make sure that ur probook is compatible with the 1080p screen.

better quality LCD won't help you 1366x768 is 1366x768, 1660x900 is not a native resolution on mac's same as the original one.
Only 1920x1080 makes sens on 15.6 if you ask me.

UPDATE, IMPORTANT

New probook 4530s series users are having problem with 1080p screen, check the last posts.

OLD TOPIC

I Posted in laptopscreen and they suggested that my pc is compatible with this screen.

We will probably need the better display cable for the HD+ screen of HP which support 1600x900 and hopefully even 1080p.
This is all experimental... i linked also the connector to them, so probably it should work.

http://www.alinc.com/LCD-display-cable- ... model.html

In short:

1600x900 is supported 100% if you buy the replacement for the cable connector and the screen (search for a replacement in laptopscreen.com).
(All information can be found in the manual of 4530s. Don't buy the original screen xD it costs a lot more). 80$ bucks with everything probably.

1920x1080 is experimental. 120$ for everything needed.

When i'll have some money and time, i'll try 1080p. :D

EDIT: To get the webcam working we need also this cable, because i figured out in the 4530s manual that the HD+ cable does not include the cable for the webcam, so we have to buy it separately.

New Info.

This solution works 100% for 1080p 4530s 15".

Cable: 646274-001 from hp spare parts.

Screen: http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/scr ... 9%28F3%29/

Either glossy or matte works.

REMEMBER TO PATCH DSDT WHEN UPGRADING RESOLUTION WITH DUAL LINK PATCH

So does this work now

I am in doubt whether I buy the 1600x900 screen and cable. My ProBook is the latest. I live in Brazil and buy wrong is probably lost money.

I think it won´t work, because the comment "This solution works 100% for 1080p 4530s 15" was written earlier. Last status is that there are problems with the newer models.

Like always: Someone has to try it and find a solution. You can be the first one or have to wait until someone spent the money and eventually fails.

Well I did that, with the money spending and failing.
The cheap cable didn't work, but the $55 one did, all from Alinc.
I think there is a problem with my mainboard/screen whitelist.
The screen (.v4) works under Windows, but I can't boot OSX nor the OSX installer.

Well it seems a bit strage to me if Windows starts correctly and MacOS won´t. I think there maybe is a problem with the DSDT, because if the whitelist would prevent the screen from working, then Windows also wouldn´t work correctly in my oppinion. But I´m no expert.

Maybe try to contact the DSDT gurus blueking or BigDonkey?
Which BIOS version? Maybe try to upgrade/downgrade?
