I moved to Clover back when r980 was issued to fix the problems with iMessage and Facetime. It's been working fine since, and I updated today to 10.8.5 without issue.
Then I decided to try my luck by upgrading Clover to r2082 ... which was a big fail.
The new Clover booted up, was text mode only, ignored any kernel options I tried to change, and panic'd on boot. I eventually got it to boot by disabling DSDT patching, and noticed that my custom SMBIOS settings were being ignored, too.
I ended up re-installing r980. I figure I can't be the only one who has tried to take this big leap. If not, I'll see what I can figure out.
