Upgraded windows 7 to 8 installation failed unable to restore windows 8.

Hi I just decided to to upgrade my windows partition on my hackintosh to windows 8 using the update assistant and the update failed it was unable to revert back to windows 7. I tried using my windows 7 recover disc but it said it was not compatible.
Any ideas?

Did you create a disk image or USB installer for Windows 8? Or did you just press ahead with the in-place installer?

Same for me. I had to totally wipe my windows 7 and install 8 from scratch. Couple key things:

1) I disconnected all disks except DVD and the HDD I installed windows on.
2) Chimera now shows two Windows disks - Reserved and NTFS. "Reserved" is the one that boots me into Windows 8

I'm not sure if upgrade is even possible because I only had a couple games on my Windows 7 system. Pretty sure the upgrade failure was due to hardware incompatibility.
