Upgrade Time: i9 or i8 and what Asus MB?

Going to be building this new box this week. I need to figure out my ram situation, I'm looking for decent 16 gig sticks.. Ill start with 2, but ideally want to get up to 64 gigs of memory. Also looking for wifi/blutooth card for airdrop.. cheers!

Quick update to anyone following.. I was able to get the Asus Rox Strix z370-H quickly up and running from my fresh install of the z710A I had. So far everything works and I'm still waiting on a few things (new ram, bigger hd, then I need to find a case).

Here are some screen shots so far.

KEXT folder with Clover.. Not sure If I need NullCPU anymore.. I don't think im missing anything else.

Only really patches right now. I don't recall setting those.

Right now its set to Mac 18,2 I think I saw 18,3 for i7 7700.. not sure if I should mess with it since it resets all the serial number and stuff risking maybe iMessage not work.. so far thats been solid.

CPU specs that it thinks.. seems solid I think.

I rarely use the onboard GPU.. and Right now I only have 1 monitor connected, my main desktop uses 2
so thats still to test. I'm going to throw another RX 480 in after I get everything installed and test any editing,
or gpu crunching apps I run.

Seems solid, with Apple Supporting AMD cards for the most part no hacks where needed.. I will upgrade to a Vega some time soon.

Those scores seem pretty decent..

Don't use NullCPUPowerManagement.

IGPU should not appear in System Information > Displays. Since you have a dGPU, IGPU should be configured to be headless/connector-less. Therefore, ig-platform-id should be 59120003.

Is that set in clover somewhere? I have never had to mess or disable it before.

So that didnt seem to work.. anything messing with the Intel Inject Value and those special params caused the system to never boot.. I took the rest of your settings, you can see a diff https://www.diffchecker.com/gG4Ataox of what I have now thats booted, but still shows intel graphics card..

Here is the issue I saw with verbose mode with your settings that went on for a while then crashed.

Try enabling -disablegfxfirmware.

with your settings the mac never booted up, i was stuck in that loop as shown in the screenshot..
