ColdCross, Onyx is my problem and not yours, simply as I've never heard of it up until now, both you and Stork have introduced me to some new software. I'm A fan of CCleaner myself. When things didn't work out for you with this software I assumed ONYX. Apologies.

Thank you for the clarification, wildwillow.

    I have my spotlight back:

    1. Wait until the MDS and its workers finish - spotlight will still not work.

    2.
    sudo touch /.metadata-never-index

    REBOOT

    3.
    sudo rm /.Spotlight-V100/VolumeConfiguration.plist
    sudo rm /.metadata-never-index

    REBOOT

    4.
    mdutil -sv /

    Should now return: Indexing enabled

Indexing should proceed normally until finished,
taking much less time than before.

    Phew. No fresh install.

I will stay away from onyx until an update and 10.12.1

Thanks for understanding ColdCross. And I'm pleased you've stabilised your installation and that you've not got to reinstall. Looks like there is a recent release of onyx for macOS Sierra (Is this the release you used?) If this release caused the indexing troubles then I'd remove it.

wildwillow: thanks for your sharing - its helped me a lot over the years.

Ive done both a fresh Sierra install (Z87X-OC, i7 4770k, GTX 660 Ti) as well as upgraded in place an existing El Cap install. Everything works so far except a glitch with audio. My audio card keeps shutting off which results in buzzing I get after 30 seconds.. I fixed that with a better patch cable.

Everything else seems to work fine so far. BTW Ive noticed on 2 PCs its best when doing a major upgrade to start over with Clover and test with USB first - an in place upgrade won't work if you forget the kext files as they are now in EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other for me.

BTW these are my steps for clean install - I noticed something none of the guides really highlight. Every major upgrade of OS X since Yosemite (re)create logical volumes and I have to revert coreservices after the install (this just happened with both an upgrade and fresh install and makes the UEFI clover install not work for me until I revert). In case anyone is struggling with upgrading clover in the EFI, that step was important to make that happen. Also the RCscripts help some PCs with shutdown.

    Fresh Install Steps:
    1) Setup BIOS settings (if needed)
    2) Prep clover config and test using USB - disable nvidia boot arg on USB
    3) Remove core storage
Diskutil cs list (find the logical volume uid and paste it in next step)
    Sudo diskutil cs revert LVUUID
    Reboot
    4) Allow all programs (can't do this in setting anymore)
    sudo spctl --master-disable
    5) Install clover on SSD with UEFI option
make sure to copy the kext files from other to other - and the working config.plist
    6) Install audio_cloverALC-120.command.zip
Select detected and y to all questions

When using the HW monitor with installed sensor kexts the Mainboard Fan indicators do not show speed of the fans and Heatsink temperature is 0.
    Is any solution for this?

    Hello,

I updated to 10.12.1 via software update.
TRIM support was kept as well as audio support.

This is astonishing! A big thanks to the knowledgable people on this board as well as wildwillow for his long term support of his build.

I also updated OnyX 3.2.1 and there are no more indexing issues with Spotlight.

    Hi all.

Such a treat for us to have a simplified installation process.
I am hoping for some feedback on my Multibeast config choices for my system.
At the moment the graphics look good except for the tiny icons which have multi-coloured pixels.
I have searched the Multibeast guide, this guide, and a few others for an answer but haven't found
anything I am concrete on. I also found this link and wondered if it was successful for a few here.
    https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...for-macos-sierra-10-12-0-367-15-10-05.200843/

As is attached to my stats, my system is below:
    Z87X-OC
    i7 4770
    Geforce GT 640

Thanks again for a great thread.

    EDIT:
Just got back after computer being off for a while: some of the icons have cleared, looks like it is cleaning up.

    Hi brendanvincent,
The default MultiBeast system definition (iMac14,2)works perfectly for Haswell builds such as ours. I've connected up the a new 27inch 4k monitor to the R9 380 (still running Yosemite dueto AMD limitations) and it works out of the box. Glad your system seems to have corrected itself and apologies for the late reply.
