The original installation media for Mac OS X Snow Leopard was a 10.6 DVD. The DVD was only updated once to version 10.6.3. In order to provide more frequent updates to users, Apple is now slipstreaming the latest version of OS X directly into the download. Upon fresh installation, no updating is necessary!

If you downloaded Mavericks from the App Store prior to February 25, 2014, you most likely have 10.9 or 10.9.1. To re-download Mavericks and update your Installation App to 10.9.2, simply log into the Mac App Store and click Download. When the download finishes, the app will automatically open. The updated 10.9.2 Install OS X Mavericks App can be found in the Applications folder. You can then re-create your UniBeast installation USB.

I used the fresh install approach and had great results. On one platform that all previous OS x versions would not allow sleep or the embedded bluetooth, 10.9.2 automatically detected the bluetooth, and now sleep works perfectly.

ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen3 (modded bios)

Used MultiBeast (without DSDT) to enable sound and trim.

Unibeast to create the App Store 10.9.2 installer.

Nvidia 650 Ti worked OOB.

OS x came up with Mac Pro 3.1 profile.

Going to install this on my main platform soon;)

I just successfully installed a fresh version of 10.9.2 on my first Hackintosh. Everthing besides integrated HDMI seems to be working. I wasn't able to get picture or sound through the on-board HDMI port. I'm using an dedicated card for video, witch installed without a hitch.

Hey Greg,

Not too sure if your board has 2 HDMI ports, but I have the GA-Z87N-WIFI and using the top HDMI works. Try it out and it should work.

anyone just run the update on it's own or should i do a clean install?

Does this mean that Apple could slowly be moving toward opening up their operating system for all hardware? It would be nice to get all the integrated wifi and video and sound to work.

Yes, you can simply update your OS - I have been updating OS X via the app store since 10.8.3 with no problems (granted I fix permissions and have to run Multibeast to restore audio drivers, etc)

The purpose of updating the Mavericks app (and thereby updating your Unibeast flash drive) is so that you have an up-to-date rescue flash drive. ;)

I am about to build my first HackPro. I downloaded Mavericks last night and created my USB boot drive. I have to wait until all the parts come in to verify it actually installs 10.9.2.

As a side note I have a MacPro 3,1 with a GTX570 in it. I had to zap the NVRAM to get dual monitors back post updating to the new NVIDIA driver. (331.01.01f01) and the CUDA update

I updated from the Apple Store from 10.9 to 10.9.2 for the second time. The first time I lost audio and I tried a number of audio drivers (usually Realtek DSDT free, ALC887/888b Current v100302 works) to no avail. I could try making an Unibeast 10.9.2 USB but that will take some time. Any suggestions?

I just finished updating from Mavericks 10.9 to 10.9.2 via Apple Store and for the second time I lost audio again. I tried several audio drivers including the original Realtek without DSDT ALC887/888b Current v. 100302 to no avail. I'm trying to avoid creating an USB Unibeast 10.9.2 to save time. Has anyone had the same problem and how did you fix it? Much obliged.
