I just wanted to leave feedback since I can only seem to find one other recent post by a user running this motherboard. The GA-Z77x-UP4 TH was an officially "recommended" motherboard for about a month on this site until it was taken off the list due to compatibility issues with the USB 3.0 ports. In any case, I successfully installed Mountain Lion (10.8) to my rig, but I have been holding off on updating to the new 10.8.1 and 10.8.2 updates until I could find someone who had successfully done so on this motherboard.
I just want to report that I took the chance and was able to successfully update my Mountain Lion OS with NO boot-issues. For the update, it first wanted me to update a bunch of programs, then it prompted me to update to 10.8.1. After a reboot, it notified me that it was ready for to update to 10.8.2, which also required a reboot. Updating NVidia drivers manually did not cause an issue either. No gray screens, nothing to type to boot properly.
However, the audio icon at the top of the screen was grayed out after the updates. System Preferences showed no option for audio output or input devices. However, the System Report correctly showed an Intel High Definition Audio device present. Running the latest MultiBeast and only choosing to install the ALC892 audio driver WITHOUT DSDT solved this issue instantly. No other problems that I have run into in the past week after the update.
Hope this is reassuring to other users with similar specs:
