Ok, Im trying that now, Clover has changed quite a lot since this manual was written so some of the configuration are different.. also which config.plist should I use?
and FakeSMC.kext is a broken link...

You should follow the instructions in the guide.
It's a non destructive process with this method, if you choose the wrong option then just try another.

In order to upgrade to High Sierra you must change your boot loader from Chimera to Clover.
The USB method allows you to create a working Clover configuration without damaging your current installation.
Which part are you struggling with ?

Why would they do that with a boot loader ?
Kext location does change on the system partition with Sierra and above but that is not a concern this early in your journey. All you want to do now is create a working Clover configuration.
