Go to /System/Library/Extensions and down near the bottom of the listing you will find the kext. Select it and move it to the trash.

Good modding,
neil

As I wrote, there is no Kext, Sound is working…

I read several uninstall guides of corse! … for older Versions I guess.

Deleted VoodooHDA Application… before i started the Threat, but my first try was to delete the Kext, but there was NONE for VoodooHDA in the first place.

Hi Tom,

I had a look at the PackageInfo of VoodooHDA 2.8.6, it says it installed:

/System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDADisabler.kext
/Applications/VoodooHdaSettingsLoader.app
/System/Library/Extensions/VoodooHDA.kext
/System/Library/PreferencePanes/VoodooHDA.prefPane
rm -r them all!

So if there is no VoodooHDA.kext in S/L/E then, is guess, it has been removed by uninstalling the App.

pls try boot paramenter -f (ignore kernel caches)
then run kextstat again, if VoodooHDA is gone rebuild the kext-cache with:

sudo chown root:admin /
sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
sudo kextcache -system-caches

Tom, pls fill in your Sysconfig!

Just to add a note to this. All these commands will have a permissions error and fail as written. Need to run with a sudo in front. Then they work fine and completely uninstall the Voodoo package, as follows.

Open Terminal. Then:

sudo rm -r /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDADisabler.kext
sudo rm -r /Applications/VoodooHdaSettingsLoader.app
sudo rm -r /System/Library/Extensions/VoodooHDA.kext
sudo rm -r /System/Library/PreferencePanes/VoodooHDA.prefPane

Followed by the rest of the commands above to clean up the kext permissions. Thanks very much tron80. Had been looking around for this and a way to get rid of Voodoo. A good program but one which fails to create great sound!, Cheers, Carl

sudo rm -r /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDADisabler.kext
sudo rm -r /System/Library/Extensions/VoodooHDA.kext
sudo rm -r /System/Library/PreferencePanes/VoodooHDA.prefPane
It's bad practice to include the -r flag unless you really mean a recursive delete. Are kexts/prefpane files or folders?

I tried and this happend to me :
-bash-3.2#
-bash: sudo: command not found

There are actually two System>Library>Extension file paths. One is visible, and one is hidden.

I too installed the VoodooHDA 2.8.8.pkg (got a lot of static feedback), and wanted to try some different routes. Upon looking for the kext, I saw no voodoohda.kext. I ran my ShowHiddenFiles program, realized there was a hidden System folder, and within the hidden Extension folder I found the voodoohda.kext. After deletion, and a reboot, it was completely gone.
