Installation worked fine. But it just boots from the usb. I tried both UEFI and Legacy Post Installer (My mainboard supports both) and installed the CustoMac Essentials. It does not boot without connected usb.

Where should I put the config.plist, which Clover Configurator exports? At my El Capitan EFI or the mounted EFI?

You should copy your EFI folder from USB to El Capitan HDD with replace and edit config.plist from this folder.

Thanks, but this folder only appears when I installed the UEFI Post Installer. When I use Legacy (which boots without any connected usb drive) there is no such file at the EFI partition.

My GA-Z77X-UP5-TH system is working nicely with El Capitan with one exception. How do we patch FakeSMC with the plug-ins that provide the various sensor readings like temperatures for other things than the internal drives? These are the only temperatures reported by the FakeSMC installed for Clover.

Thank you for any assistance.

Thank you for a must useful link. As for the business with not posting here I would not have except that it would appear that is how this topic has become. I have watched it since it was first posted, and because the trend has been to post questions here, that is what I did. I apologize. However, it would be more helpful if you would indicate where one should look for the installation Q & A. Especially, because there are many here.

Again, thank you for the help.

The answer is to post / look in whichever area is most appropriate to your issue.

i.e. Graphics - Audio - Desktop Support - etc.

Thanks for this guide, I got my hackintosh working with El Capitan, to enable audio on my onboard, I used these drivers by toleda, the ones you provided on the guide didn't work for me.

I've got a old (circa Fall 2009) original Lifehacker based hack with a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P (v 1.6) mobo and a Q9550 CPU. I'm currently on OS 10.9 and was contemplating shifting to either 10.10 or 10.11 and the bootloader to Clover. For folks that have an older mobo, I'm interested to know if the process to go to 10.11 was basically as it is stated in the guide? I've got a new larger SSD that I thought I'd try first with a new, clean install. One post I've seen has an USB answer to a loss of audio that seems good. From my reading I was worried about running into USB port issues with this old board but if folks have got them running it gives me hope. I also agree with a previous comment that my old Core 2 hack is as fast, if not faster, than my work i7 iMac and MacBook Pro.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

El Capitan installed and working including iMessage and audio (ALC892).

I had a fully operational Yosemite 10.10.5 clover boot loader r3259. System definition = iMack 14.1. Copied that EFI folder to a flash drive. Followed this guide to create a Unibeast install stick for El Capitan clover and UEFI. Did a clean install of El Capitan.

After install of El Capitan, I mounted the EFI partition and deleted the new EFI/EFI file and replaced with the Yosemite EFI/EFI file. Restarted EL Capitan (using USB ) and updated Clover to r3270. Then copied and pasted the kexts in 10.10 to 10.11. Deleted the Extra folder in El Capitan. Restarted directly into El Capitan.

Everything worked except Audio as expected. Did have to log into iCloud and confirm KeyChain.

Used: https://github.com/toleda/audio_RealtekALC

to install audio.

The reason I replaced the EFI/EFI folder with the old one was to keep all of the system definitions (config plist) that worked with iMessage in Yosemite. I noticed that the Unibeast installed EFI uses a iMac 14.2 definition and requires a magic wand procedure to get new serial numbers, etc.
