I just got UniBeast to work, but I'm not sure how. Here's what I did...

1. On my 2011 MacBook Air, running El Capitan (10.11.2), I downloaded a fresh copy of El Capitan (10.11.3) and a fresh copy of UniBeast (6.1.1)
2. Reformatted a Kingston 32GB flash drive that had worked reliably for many installations, from Mountain Lion to El Capitan 10.11.2
3. Set UniBeast to install Legacy, with NVidia inject. Ran UniBeast and got the dreaded "Couldn't remove installation packages error"; rebooted and got the same error.
4. Tried a lot of different things that should of worked but didn't in my hands, including:
(a) spitjo's solution here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/unibeast-archived-threads/179903-selected-mac-os-x-installer-incomplete.html
(b) Installing Clover directly here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capitan-desktop-guides/167901-how-create-os-x-el-capitan-public-beta-installation-usb-using-clover.html
5. The following day, thinking I might try jgutwald's solution in this thread, I ran UniBeast again. The magic "OS X Base Systems Window" appeared (not sure whether I saw it yesterday...), which, following CCSpecialist's advice in this thread, I did not close.
6. UniBeast successfully completed its installation.

I'm not sure what I did right today that I didn't do yesterday. All the hardware and software was the same as it was yesterday when UniBeast failed.

I have read the UniBeast 6 troubleshooting notes and re-downloaded clean copies of UniBeast and El Capitan but I still get the same error message.

I observe that UniBeast copies only the base system and fails to copy InstallESD.dmg. The message appears exactly at the moment that it finishes copying the base system and mount the USB again.

There should be nothing wrong with my USB and port because I can run the following command to copy the El Capitan image to my USB successfully.

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/USB --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app --nointeraction

Please help debugging it. Thank you.
buddy even i got the same problem help me solve it
but the sudo command on terminal will not not create a bootable copy for non-mac computers

I have come up with an alternative solution that helps me to install El Capitan.

You can first run the command line above to copy the original El Capitan to your USB. After that, use show package content and find the Clover package inside UniBeast. Run that Clover package and install it to your USB. Then it should lead you to boot to the installer.

Installation consists of two stages. When you see the message "About a second remaining" it will take more than 10 minutes. Be patient and wait there. Eventually it will reboot. When it reboots, boot to the installer again to finish the remaining processes of installation.
is this working ?

I had the same "Couldn't remove installation packages" error. It was a Security and Privacy setting on my machine. Specifically, I have a password set to be required upon wakeup, which when "screen lock" begins, the Unibeast process is halted due to a permissions error. Setting this to a longer interval (4hrs), or disabling it, solved the issue for me.

had the same problem - before starting unibeast installation disable in system preferences "computer sleep" and "display sleep" for your current energie mode (batterie or adapter plug in). After disabling of display sleep it worked for me with two sticks.

Edit - in my way the first 25% in the installation status bar, will have a duration of 20-25 Min so don't wonder if it tooks longer.

jgutwald you are a genius.

For those that need help: Right-click finder, and select "Go to folder...". Then type in "/Volumes" and hit enter. There, if we had the same problem, you would find two "OS X Base System" files. In my case, one was a folder with a red (-) symbol. I renamed it to "other OS X Base System". After that, I ran uniBeast on the same USB that had been failing and it worked!:thumbup:

Hi,

I got the issue but since, my USB Drive is "read only" and i can't erase or make new partition etc ...
I tried on Windows and Mac - diskpart / diskutil / disk utility ... everything even with the Recovery HD and differents application but nothing work

When i do Jgutwald trick, i have only 1 "OS X Base System" file (without red symbol) and i can't rename it (it's greyed in the menu) ...

Someone could help me at least to get my USB Drive working ?

Thanks
