I have read the UniBeast 6 troubleshooting notes and re-downloaded clean copies of UniBeast and El Capitan but I still get the same error message.

I observe that UniBeast copies only the base system and fails to copy InstallESD.dmg. The message appears exactly at the moment that it finishes copying the base system and mount the USB again.

There should be nothing wrong with my USB and port because I can run the following command to copy the El Capitan image to my USB successfully.

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/USB --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app --nointeraction

Please help debugging it. Thank you.

This is happening to me as well.
It is happening with current Unibeasts 5 and 6, trying at least 3 different USB drives of different capacities.
I have tried to create Unibeast 5 bootables for Mavericks and Yosemite.
As as well as Unibeast 6 bootables for Yosemite and El Capitan.
In the past it has been smooth sailing upgrading, as my system started with Snow Lepeord (skipping Lion).

As you have done as well @wtxwt, I can create command line USB drives for all versions.
I have followed the Yosemite with Clover command line to USB installer as well (it failed at bootup but that's for a different forum thread).

The only thing I have done with my system recently is update Mavericks with all the current updates.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated!

Current Hackintosh:
Gigabyte Z77N-wifi
i7-3770k
16GB ram
256GB Crucial SSD
Using onboard graphics and ethernet

I have come up with an alternative solution that helps me to install El Capitan.

You can first run the command line above to copy the original El Capitan to your USB. After that, use show package content and find the Clover package inside UniBeast. Run that Clover package and install it to your USB. Then it should lead you to boot to the installer.

Installation consists of two stages. When you see the message "About a second remaining" it will take more than 10 minutes. Be patient and wait there. Eventually it will reboot. When it reboots, boot to the installer again to finish the remaining processes of installation.

Did it work for you?

I managed to boot the installer once but haven't been able to since.

I've tried the manual method and with Unibeast numerous times but still no luck.

Also tried re-downloading the DMG for El Capitan

Hi

Just tried Unibeast 6.0.1 and same issue exists. I was injecting ATI as an option. Tried without and still faced the same problem.

The first time I tried unibeast 6.0.0 it worked but ended up with a boot0 issue booting from USB. Now can't get to create a unibeast USB even with the 6.0.1

I can also confirm it still doesn't work.

Same error as before.
