So I have a copy of the 10.7 thumb drive from Apple and am getting the same error as many others when I try to run UniBeast. Answers to the quick questions:
* Yes my machine's primary language is English.
* Yes it is a real thumb drive from Apple.
* The machine I'm using for the USB creation is 10.8, but not the latest 10.8 (haven't had a chance to update yet).
* I ran the installer with the "Security & Privacy > Allow applications downloaded from: Anywhere" selected.

I also tried using the ML thumb drive that I had this weekend and obviously there is no UniBeast client for that yet (why not allow the source directory for the Install.app be configurable instead of making separate binaries per purpose?). I know that the thumb drives I have access to are valid because both were used to upgrade the machine I'm using to write this post.

Excuse me, not a copy, it is the original, as shipped from Apple. I can send you a pic if you want.

In Terminal do:

Code:
ls -la [FONT=Helvetica]/Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install/[/FONT]

and post the output.

Also what is the model and part number printed on it?

$ ls -la /Volumes/OSX\ Lion/

I asked you to do a ls of "/Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install/" which is the volume name for the Apple USB.

This ls is NOT from an Apple purchased Lion USB.

I'd love to tell you "hey, you're right, that's the volume name and I just goofed," but that's not the case. OSX Lion is the name of the drive. UniBeast also recognizes the drive.

$ ls -la /Volumes
total 8
drwxrwxrwt@ 7 root admin 238 Feb 4 11:53 .
drwxr-xr-x 38 root wheel 1360 Feb 3 11:05 ..
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 1 Feb 3 11:04 Macintosh HD -> /
drwxrwxrwx 0 root wheel 0 Feb 4 11:49 MobileBackups
drwxrwxr-x@ 13 xxx staff 510 Oct 31 13:05 OSX Lion
drwxrwxr-x 9 root wheel 374 Feb 3 10:18 Recovery HD

If this is an issue with UniBeast not recognizing the drive (though the UI indicates it does) because of the name, I'd be happy to help with fixing that code to be more dynamic.

This ls is NOT from an Apple purchased Lion USB.

The IT department at my job (where I'm borrowing this thumb drive from) respectfully disagree.

I purchased the Lion USB from an Apple store and have it in my possession and used that for testing UniBeast.

None of the volumes you listed match what I have for my Apple USB.

Also, you have avoided answering what is the model and part number printed on the USB you purchased from Apple.

Does your company have a site license that allows any employee to install Lion on the employee's personal hardware?

What they gave you is not the Apple USB.
