I recently replaced my Ubuntu 12.10 and overwrote it completely with 13.04, the problem: The darn thing refuses to install grub on the main partition, thus making it invisible to Chimera. as you can see by the screenshots, it does not even say 'This is a bad idea' it just kinda screws me over. Anyone know how to get past this?

Have you tried downloading just the Grub booter and installing it manually via command line? As an alternate, try creating /Boot and installing Grub there.

When installing ubuntu just click the something else button, manually create your / partition and swap partition and then there is a drop down menu for where to install grub, select the / partition you created ( in my case sdc1 )

Thanks man, your a great help!

If that does not work, from what I have seen it must be a UEFI problem, if so, I'll just post that problem under the linux tag

log in to ubuntu. open terminal and type: sudo fdisk -l
Find the partition ubuntu is installed on, for me it was sdb1.
then, in terminal, type: sudo grub-install /dev/sdb1 --force (replace sdb1 with whatever your partion is)
that should do it. I have to do this everytime i install a different distro.

if that doesn't work try the boot-repair method described here:

Did anyone get this to successfully work with Ubuntu 13.04? After forcing Grub to install, my Ubuntu drive will no longer boot....

Thanks!
