Hi everyone,

It's been a very long time coming, but I'm finally ready to make the upgrade to Catalina since my WiFi card is bugging out and I don't want any incompatibilities when I install a new one. It's been so long since I've done this that I'm feeling totally lost. I don't even know where to begin since I already have a working system! I remember when I upgraded in the past, everything went haywire and it took like a day to fix, so I'm really hoping to avoid that this time around. Is there anyone out there that can help me out here? I've attached my EFI folder and here are my specs:

Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z370-A
CPU: i7-8700k
Graphics: UHD 630

Thank you so much in advance!!

Yes, sorry, FROM Catalina!

Okay, so you're suggesting that I basically start from scratch using a brand new drive? I guess I'll have to go through the whole process of finding the right extensions and such, yeah? It took me so long the first time, but I guess it's worth it to bring my computer even close to up to where it should be.

I should clarify that my WiFi card is being buggy because I just moved and the antenna got knocked off in the process. Let's call it user error.

Thank you!

Hi there.

I don't know if it was made clear enough - or maybe you know already - but the latest versions of Ventura and the upcoming Sonoma, no longer support our Broadcom wireless cards (Fenvi, Dell etc). So if you plan on getting a new one to replace your buggy one, then you either have to use the OpenCore Legacy Patcher beta app to get one working, or use an Intel chipset wireless card instead and the OpenIntelWireless beta drivers.

Of course you can use Ethernet if you would rather.

:)

Oh, no, I was unaware of that! Shoot, I just bought a new wireless card (Fenvi)... Do you have a suggestion of what I should buy instead?

At this point, I'm strongly considering a fresh install from scratch instead of trying to do all of this piecewise and troubleshoot. Hopefully it's simpler than it used to be/I remember!

Also, I should say that I've NEVER been able to get my ethernet port to work on my computer, so any advice there would be golden.
