Deleted, restarted, still no go
Try with your Windows disk (and any others) disconnected.

Try and be a bit more expansive with your replies - "still no go" is difficult to diagnose.

All disks disconnected aside from mac boot drive. Original issue persists.

Boot drive is greyed out in Install macOS High Sierra install app with message:
"You may not install to this volume because it is missing a firmware partition."

What is the make/model of your disk ?

500 GB SSD - Samsung 840 Evo

Not sure if this plays into it, in disk utility it shows as an external drive, its never mattered before.
I just did what you should have done in the first place and used Google to search for :
”you may not install to this volume because the computer is missing a firmware partition”

You are not alone - See if you can find a solution there.

use kext tool to load the (AHCI_Intel_Generic_SATA) kext, reboot, and your drives will be seen as non-removeable, and internal..

@grim102, please update your profile (personal details) with your Motherboard (Mobo), CPU and iGPU or Graphics Card.
If you have a prebuilt computer enter make and model instead of motherboard (Mobo).
