I have a working Hackintosh Sierra build that I made a few years ago with the followings specs:
  • Intel I7 4770 3.4GHz
  • 16 GB DDR3 RAM
  • NVIDIA GTX 760
  • ASUS H87M-E Motherboard
Everything is working flawlessly on Sierra but I am trying to upgrade because DaVinci Resolve 16 only works with HS or higher.

I tried following this guide to update (both with or without APFS):
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/update-directly-to-macos-high-sierra.232707/

Everything works until step 6. When I choose the Boot macOS Install option, it shows the apple logo, and as soon as the progress bar appears, the system reboots. If I let that happen 5 or 6 times, it shows a forbidden sign and then wants me to press any key to continue but my keyboard doesn't seem to work.

Luckily I can still boot to Sierra and I get the following report after login:

I tried using verbose mode during the install but the text just flashes by way to fast.

Clover is updated to R5122 and the followings kexts are in the Other folder of the EFI Partition:
  • FakeSMC.kext
  • IntelGraphicsFixup.kext
  • Lilu.kext
  • RealtekRTL8111.kext
I tried several things from the original thread but nothing seems to change anything. Any help is appreciated.

IntelGraphicsFixup.kext is deprecated - Now part of WhateverGreen.kext.
Removing it is a good plan but it is unlikely to have an impact on your problem which appears to be USB related.

Ok thanks for the info, I already tried once with WhateverGreen.kext and just like you predicted not much of a change for the install

Both together is a recipe for disaster.

The prohibitory symbol when booting from a USB flash drive usually indicates a USB configuration problem.
When booting from a HDD it is usually related to the SATA configuration.

I am booting from a SDD, the same one that has my Sierra install and that is working flawlessly.

The prohibitory symbol only appears after 4 or 5 reboots. When I select the Boot macOS Install in clover it shows the Apple logo for a few seconds and a soon as the progress bar appears under, the system reboots, and If I let that happen a few times, the prohibitory symbol appears.

Edit: But if I force restart, I can still boot on Sierra without a problem.

Try booting in verbose mode and video the boot process to capture the kernel panic information then extract and upload the relevant frame(s) here.

zip and attach your /EFI folder.

Here's what verbose mode displays, sorry for the bad quality had to use 240fps mode to even see something.

Certainly appears to be USB related.

Try disconnecting your "USB Device: Scarlett 2i2 USB" while you install.

Suggest that you follow the guide that I linked for you in Post #2
