Transplant a HDD Obstacles

For this conversation I define transplanting the HDD from a Dell OptiPlex 7010 to one of the (TBD) HP laptop in this list below. It would be ideal if the SSD in the desktop could be transplanted back and forth.

I would like to understand the obstacles that would have to be overcome to realize such a capability and seek guidance from those who have successfully transplanted drives. Lesson-learned and landmines to avoid are greatly appreciated. Thank you

Is it possible to define a laptop and a desktop 'configuration items' (SMBIOS, kexts, SSDTs) and present the correct configuration based on the detected hardware?
