"This update provides stability fixes for thunderbolt and target disk mode."

I dont have thunderbolt enabled motherboard, so no reason to run it. But is it safe to run?

Thunderbolt Firmware Update v1.2

Apple has released an update which is supposed to fix some stability issues for Thunderbolt and Target Disk Mode on Macs.

You can get the update here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1653

This is a firmware update- not for custom builds.

This update is for all Macs with Thunderbolt ports built in- Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge based. It's a Apple Thunderbolt firmware update, and non-driver as far as my own testing can tell.

Is it possible to manually remove this entry from the update list?

Yes! ... just right-click and select "hide update".
(P.S. do not a right-click on the "update" button)

Hi, I have Thunderbolt equipped customac (DC3217BY). Installing this update does no harm. It obviously fails and intends to install itself in couple of weeks again. Here is where the tip to hide it becomes handy. Thank you!
